CONTESTS
Sharp Pens offers writing contests throughout the year. Each one is designed to be a learning experience where teen writers can practice their craft in a safe and educational environment. We offer several different kinds of Contests.
Pre-Workshop
These contests are open only to students registered for Sharp Pens’ upcoming workshop. They are related to the workshop’s theme and allow participants a hands-on learning experience as they practice specific writing techniques. After the contest, students receive feedback from the judges that highlight areas of strength and weakness within their writing. The top three winners receive a signed, award certificate and special prizes.
These contests are open only to students who attended Sharp Pens’ previous workshop. The contests vary greatly: Some allow students to share their favorite experiences at Sharp Pens, others give students opportunities to practice what they learned at the workshop.
Post-Workshop
General
These contests are open to all Christian writers 13-19 years of age, whether they have attended a workshop or not. They present great opportunities to practice a range of different writing techniques in a fun and safe environment.
